MILLENNIUM LIVE 2000, heruitgave (NL+E)

Millennium Live 2000 van de Roemeen Indra is een heruitgave van een concert uit 2000. Het album duurt bijna 73 minuten, maar van livegeluiden of een livesfeer is niets te bespeuren. De muziek is een wat frivole vorm van een kruising tussen Jean Michel Jarre and Klaus Schulze met Bloss. Die laatste ook vanwege het toegevoegde cellospel van Mirel Grajdejanu. De opening met prettige sequences is uiterst plezierig en melodieus en dat geldt eigenlijk ook voor de overige tracks. Brain Machine bevat een vrij eentonige sequence, maar het is absoluut een ode aan Schulze en Bloss. Wat ik echter uitermate irritant vind zijn de relatief harde en soms zelfs door merg en been snijdende geluiden of effecten die Indra door de vrij rustige melodieën meent te moeten mixen. Die geluiden ervaar ik als dermate storend en afleidend, dat daarmee het niveau van het album nadrukkelijk naar beneden wordt gehaald. De vrouwelijke zangstem van Michaela Dasicomis op Angel Dream is lieflijk, maar niet echt indrukwekkend en heeft muzikaal veel weg van Enya. De composities getuigen overduidelijk van vakmanschap, maar ze zijn niet bijster origineel. Indra is best een veelbelovend musicus, zoveel is wel duidelijk, maar dit album brengt mij niet in vervoering.

Millennium Live by the Romanian musician Indra is again a re-release of a concert dating from March 2000. The album lasts for almost 73 minutes with little or no evidence of live sounds or a live atmosphere. The music is the somewhat frivolous version of a crossover between Jean Michel Jarre and Klaus Schulze with Boss. The latter because of the cello play by Mirel Grajdejanu. The opening piece with nice sequences is very pleasant to my ears, as are the other tracks mostly very melodic pieces. What I consider to be very irritating are the relatively loud and sometimes sounds and effects that cut to the bone. These effects were thrown into these fairly mellow melodies. Brain Machine has got rather boring sequences, but is definitely an ode to Schulze and Bloss. These additional sounds are that annoying and distracting for my taste that in my opinion, the quality level of the whole album is brought down. The female vocals on Angel Dream by Michaela Dasicomis sound very sweet, but not really impressive. Her voice resembles the voice of Enya, and so does the music. The compositions are proof of craftsmanship although not highly original. There's lots of potential, that's evident, but this album doesn’t turn me on.
