EROTIC MOODS VOL. 2 (NL+E)

Zoals de titel al aangeeft, bevat deze al wat gedateerde cd zwoele muziek met zachte ritmes. De muziek op Erotic Moods bestaat uit vloeiende, gemakkelijk in het gehoor liggende melodietjes met keyboards, akoestische en elektrische gitaar, fluit(samples) en soms lieftallige kinderzang en onder meer in het Latijn gezongen teksten. De vermoedelijk elektronisch gegenereerde bas en de percussie vullen uitstekend aan. In Amerika vallen dit soort platen zeer in de smaak; of dat in ons land ook zo is, waag ik te betwijfelen. De gitaarpartijen van Eric Hanssen op twee tracks zijn vlekkeloos en de productie van deze twaalf door Ivan Kopas gecomponeerde nummers is prima. Dromerige deuntjes die een vrij simpele basis hebben, soms met een enigszins etnische invloed maar meestal geschoeid op de leest van een rustige Enigma, ERA en dergelijke. Het is gewoon een lekker schijfje dat ruim 55 minuten duurt met niet te moeilijke, maar daarom ook niet echt diepgaande klanken. Niet bijster origineel en vaak nogal voorspelbaar. Van Nusound is erg weinig bekend, maar wel dat onder die naam al minstens drie andere albums zijn uitgebracht. In januari 2006 is er een compilatie verschenen van de drie albums in de serie Erotic Moods.

As the title Erotic Moods, Vol. II already implies, this rather dated release by Nusound is a sultry record with gentle rhythms. Flowing, easy melodies played on keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars, flute (samples) and sweet voices including children singing Latin texts. The probably electronically generated bass and percussion provide an excellent foundation here. This kind of music is very fashionable in America at the moment, although I have my doubts if that's the case in Europe as well. The guitar parts on two tracks are immaculately played by Eric Hanssen and the twelve pieces, all composed by Ivan Kopas, are all well-produced. This album contains dreamy songs with a relatively simple basis, occasional ethnic influences pop up, but for the most part this is reminiscent of a softer version of Enigma, Era and so on. This is quite simply a pleasant album lasting 55 minutes, it's not too difficult, but not too involving either, it's also lacking in originality and tends to be rather predictable. There is very little information about Nusound apart from the fact that they have released at least three other albums under this name and in January 2006 appeared a compilation of those three in the Erotic Moods-series.
